Cincinnati Reds Sign Jeimer Candelario

--

Jeimer Candelario and the Cincinnati Reds agreed to a three year contract. The deal is worth $45 million. There is also a club option in 2027 worth an additional $15 million.

Jeimer Candelario joins Nick Martinez and Emilio Pagan as there MLB free agent signings this offseason. In total the team has spent $87 on these players.

Candelario, 30, is joining an infield that already features Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Jonathan India, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Spencer Steer and Noelvi Marte.

The infield is a crowded house. Cincinnati is planning to move Steer to the outfield full time with the addition of Jeimer Candelario. Steer in the outfield would leave the Reds with six infielders for five spots, including designated hitter, for manager David Bell to rotate throughout the year.
